The DF media catalog (the #12–#68 media codes; #10 Cellulose retired). Folded from vt-note.md (2026-08-20). Canonical media derivation is src/media.py canonical_media() — Option1 Value drives the exotic and wide-pleat codes; the SKU suffix is still the fallback for standard media (Option1 NF/SB labels are NOT yet read — see docs/open-questions.md §2.1).
DF = 80/20
#10 Cellulose (standard paper) is removed from the taxonomy — only #12 80/20 is used in its place. Any "#10" reference is a legacy code, not a live media.

Brand-agnostic codes added where no DFI media grade exists — named by substrate or construction rather than a DFI #-number, so they sit outside the #12–#68 scheme.
wide-pleat-nf— wide-pleat nanofiber ("Nanofiber on Spunbond Polyester" / "Wide Pleat Nanofiber*"). Spunbond substrate → bands construction. Isolated to its own class like an exotic, but not a pure exotic (the wide-pleat aspect is marketed).nf-on-sb— "Nanofiber on Synthetic": nanofiber on a spunbond/polyester substrate. Spunbond substrate → bands construction. Drop-ship until quote volume justifies stocking.polyester-felt— "Needled Polyester Felt" (Donaldson Ultra-Tek/Thermo-Tek/High Temp). Not spunbond → cage construction. No home in the standard model.
